I will reserve my comments until later, howver, Sen. Frist looks to be the man, what do you all think of Dr. Frist.

Thumbs up

He's doing the right thing ...
I think he could have been defended , if he'd done it right , but he was digging his own hole faster than anyone else ...

and with his lack of backbone , he really was not a person that I could side with ....

he may be a great guy , just not the leader Bush needs in the Senate if we're gonna win '04 .

Frist as leader and McConnell(sp?) as whip

I guess I didn't want Lott to be leader in the first place, but I don't like how he has been treated. It is shameful how Republicans failed to support him when he clearly did not mean to support segregation. Republicans have a way of not sticking up for their comrades it seems.

The more I learn about Bill Frist the more I like him.

I was over at the DU last night and they were gnashing their teeth trying to dig up dirt on Frist and failing miserably.

Here is the most the DUh has come up with.

Quote:
"Jim Sasser is sending Tennessee money to Washington, to Marion Barry ... While I've been transplanting lungs and hearts to heal Tennesseans, Jim Sasser has been transplanting Tennesseans' wallets to Washington, home of Marion Barry." ... Bill Frist, 1994 campaign stump speech.
Here is their take on that statement.

Quote:
Frist suggests 800,000 Washingtonians (blacks) deserve nothing
that's what he was saying. I know it's hard to interpret this "code" talk.

It often takes a lot of fancy footwork for the liberals to skew truthful words. Clinton had a great way of dealing with that-redefining words. We right wingers have to get better at this kind of manipulation.

I think Lott was too much of a people pleaser and you see where it got him when he got in hot water. He could not garner any support from conservatives because he caved too much to the libs. But this does not justify the witchunt he had to undergo. I still think he is a decent good man but he lacked a political backbone. At least he had the integrity to stay in the Senate and keep the majority intact.

I think it's time to go on a massive counter-offensive against the real racists in this country like the Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd, Bill KKKlinton, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton. I think it's time to redefine racism not so much as what someone says but how their policies divide people against each other and hold a certain segment of society in perpetual poverty for political exploitation. The Democrats provide the worst examples of bigotry and intolerance.

This is good news,Lott was a spineless sellout and deserved no support,He never fought very hard on things that mattered but when it was his own fanny suddenly it was different.
Atleast Lott decided to not dump his senate seat as he was threatoning to do,I will give him credit for that much.

I want McConnell as majority leader but that appears to not be in the cards,I really dont know much about Bill Frist so its hard to comment.

Just a couple of last words about Trent Lott. This latest flap about Trent Lott being pilloried for his statements during a Party for Strom Thurman, graphically demonstrates the incredible double standard by the press and the Black Poverty Pimp Leadership (Jesse Jackson & Al Sharpton). I think that Lott was a terrible Senate Majority Leader, but not because of this manufactured incident. The silence in the press, just last month when Bill Clinton lauded Sen. James Fulbright, was just one of dozens of examples of selective outrage by the biased press and corrupt editors of the Washington Post and New York Times. (Sen Robt Byrd's N-word & KKK membership - Sen Fritz Hollings Confederate Flag stance - Senator Gores (sr) vote against the Civil Rights Legislation, etc).

They do not think that the American people are smart enough to recognize this duplicitous, feigned outrage for what it laughingly is - blatant hypocrisy. Once again, they continue to be wrong.

If they spent half as much time and energy looking for solutions and ways to improve the lives of just those people that they claim to represent, we all would be better off. However, then, they could not claim the moral high ground and that their touchy, feely, self-righteousness, is what REALLY matters. It's sad - and worse - a terrible waste of ink and TV airtime.

Let's now turn our attention to Bill Frist, and just ignore the sideshow you know the press is going to put on.
