Gee,There not very peaceful...
From the article:
The angry demonstration began about 4:40 p.m. when a group of demonstrators beating drums and waving black-and-red flags blocked traffic at Fifth and Mission streets.
The mostly young activists, some with handkerchiefs covering their mouths and noses, turned onto Market Street, followed by police on bicycles.
The protest escalated to vandalism as the group turned up Sansome Street, spray-painting anti-war messages on the Citicorp Building.
Demonstrators used news racks and iron bars to smash a glass door at the Immigration and Naturalization Service building. As police rushed forward to protect the entry, the march turned south on Battery, smashing a window in a Starbucks coffee shop.

“All we are saying is give peace a chance.”
Funny how angry some peaceniks get when they feel like no one takes them serious. It was a good thing they don’t have a nuclear program or they would have pushed the button. Stinking hypocrites.

There were tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands, depending on whose estimates you want to believe) of people from all walks of life protesting in demonstrations in cities and towns all over the country this weekend.
Out of all that, a tiny group of jerks got out of hand and caused damage. Most of the protestors are just as angry -- probably much more angry -- at those anarchist jerks as you are.
Agree or disagree with the opinions of the protestors, But please don't mischaracterize the vast majority of people who protested peacefully across the country by the actions of a few butthead anarchists.

Exactly what do these modern-day "useful idiots" think they're accomplishing by their ridiculous demonstrations, other than pissing off the large majority of people who wish they'd just STFU and go home?
I suspect that most of the numbwits are collij stwedintz responding to the mind-numbing propoganda from the tenured leftists who infest America's hyper-liberal campuses like cockroaches in a greasy-spoon diner. They don't think. They feel. They react. They know exactly squat about what they're protesting, but ignorance never stopped protestors before. Indeed, it's part of the job description.
These are the same breed of unshaved, unwashed, scraggly-haired, spittle-spraying cretins that polluted the streets during the 'Nam era. And, they're not one iota more credible.

Some of the protestors do fall into the category you describe. But many others don't. In my hometown there have been demonstrations, and most of them are indistinguishable from any of your average neighbors, because they are just like your neighbors.
As for calling everyone who is protesting this ignorant or of "feeling" rather than "thinking," I would say that neither side of this debate has a monopoly on either characteristic.
It is just as unthinkingly emotional to believe we should go to war "because President Bush says we have to" or because "Sadaam is going to get us if we don't" or the many other reasons people give as reasons to go. How many people who say that know any more than someone who believes we should not go to war?
Sadaam is an evil *******. But there are many other ways to defang him than war, and without further stirring up the hornet's nest of anti-US feelings in that part of the world.
Again you may disagree, but please don't demonize or try to marginalize the large and growing number of people from all walks of life (and varying sides of the political spectrum) who believe this war would be a big and costly mistake.
Also, those scruffy protestors of Vietnam turned out to be right. 30 years later, the people (like McNamara) who were running the war admitted that they lied about it, had no idea what they were doing and were caught in a morass that they could not escape from.

"Sadaam is an evil *******. But there are many other ways to defang him than war, and without further stirring up the hornet's nest of anti-US feelings in that part of the world."
In what way (or should I say "which way" , since you claim to have "many" ways that you know of)do
you suggest ?
The Clintons had 8 yrs to do "SOMETHING" ! They did nothing except allow the exportation of high tech goodies to China , over the objections of Clintons own State Dept , which in turn sold stuff to Iraq .... that helped alot ....
the dimwit Europeans that are peeing all over themselves have been dealing with Iraq around the limitations of the Cease Fire that Saddam signed to save his sorry arse 10 yrs. ago ...
so the Euroweenies have been against us the whole time !!!!
As far as anti US sentiment , that's nothing new .... they despise us because they know they couldn't pull their collective butts out of a rubber innertube , without or help ...
I'd also say that most of the anti-war movement has tones of anti-semitism in the rhetoric ....
the Euroweenies have been paying off /looking the other way for these lil terror groups in hopes they'd go away ...
Time to Bomb Saddam ...
Comply or Die
