I am watching the Yankees/Red Sox game on Fox.

I do love the Yankees not only because they are a great team but I have to say I sincerely love that the seventh inning stretch tonight included one of The Irish Tenors singing "God Bless America". The fans sang along and held up American flags and patriotic signs.

People can say what they want about George Steinbrenner but the man is the embodiment of a true patriot.

I would like to see the Yankees win again, but there is a part of me that wants to see the Cubs win. Too many years have gone by without them winning. Somehow, I do feel like it would be nice for them to win.

What do you think, Joel?

YANKEES BABY!! Screw the Cubbies. Sammy Sosa hits the most meaningless home runs. The Cubs will be up 23 to 1 and Sosa will hit a home run.

Watch when the Cubs are down 3 to 2 with a man on first. Sosa always chokes.

Also Boston has no chance in hell against the Yankees. 1918!!!! HA HA HA!!! That's not as bad as the Cubs and 1908, but think about it. There were veterans of the Civil War in the stands the last time either of these to teams won.

I would laugh for a month straight should the Cubs be lucky enough to make it against the Yankees. There is nothing more hysterical then watching the Yanks knock out a team that hasn't won since WWI only to then beat a team that hasn't won since there were 46 stars on our Flag.

I was pretty stoked to see the Diamondbacks crush and humiliate the Yankees a couple of years ago in the World Series. For me, it was pure pleasure to see the hated Yankees fall to the underdogs. Living in Wisconsin, I am really no fan of the Cubs, but I'll take them over the Yankees any day. Sorry Dutch, I really hope the Yankees don't make it to the World Series again.

Hane...I love the Yankees...period. I would love to see a Yankees/Chicago Cubs series because the bottom line is that both these clubs have the best starting rotations in baseball. I really like Chicago's Kerry Woods. If it happens...I can see the Yankees winning in six. It's easy to get to the top...the hard part is remaining there year in and year out...which is what makes the Yankees so special (even with the big payroll). The Yankees are blessed with an owner who just can't breathe without winning...the Cubs aren't as fortunate. It would be a good experience for the Cubs...and because they have a good young staff they'll be competitive for the next few years. As for Sammy Sosa...as Dutch says...he's not exactly Mr. Clutch...but I will tell you this...here in New York there's a huge Dominican population and whenever Sosa's in the house...these fans go nuts! So, it would be wild if the Cubs made it and thousands of these Dominican fans fill up Yankee stadium flying the Dominican flag and rooting for their country's hero Sammy Sosa. It's going to make one wild time...which of course is great for television ratings... and for baseball fans across the country.

Buckley,

You know I love you man, but crush the Yankees???? The D-backs were lucky that Mariano isn’t as good of a fielder as his is a pitcher. They barley squeaked out the win, but a win is still a win nonetheless.

I love your last line Buckley (I really hope the Yankees don't make it to the World Series again); you have to admit that there really is no better franchise in all of professional sports than the Yankees. The Lakers, The 49er’s, The Canadians, et al strive to reach the historic level of excellence that the Yankees seem to maintain effortlessly for almost a century now.

Love them or hate them, the Yankees are far and away the greatest sports franchise.

Yankees in 5 against Boston.

Yankees in 5 to win number 27.

You're right (of course) but that little blooper into shallow center field made for some great TV. They showed that for 8 months here on the D'Backs commercials and it's still in the opening reel for D'Backs TV on Channel 3.

I want to see the Cubs and Redsox or should I say hear about the Cubs and Redsox because I could not care less who makes it to the world series,I use to love baseball until the strikes and salaries recked the game(at least for me)I watch hockey and football the most for right now until they do the same thing.

LOL. Well I guess it was their proudest moment and they should enjoy it. But I don't think the D-Backs will survive as a franchise for more then 20 years.

A parade in the canyon of heroes right after 9-11 would have done wonders for the Country and the sagging economy (at that time). Instead, a half dozen people lined up their folding chairs down Main Street to watch Johnson and Schilling wave to them from the back seat of a slow moving El Camino. Bleh!!!
