Sorry, but I just got to throw this out here...
Please bare with me through the first two quotes, I will then get to the point of the post.
Employees Fear for Their Lives: The Other AIG Outrage
Quote:
When news broke last week that AIG had paid out bonuses of $165 million from the $170 billion it received in emergency aid from the government, outrage spread from the White House to Main Street.
Much of that anger was focused on the company's financial products unit, based in Wilton, Conn., which sold more derivatives than AIG could back, nearly causing the downfall of what was once the world's largest insurance company.
|
Quote:
Employees of American International Group not involved with the shady credit default swaps that led to the company's near-collapse last year are angry for being unfairly blamed for a mess they say they had nothing to do with and are scared by threats of violence against them and their families.
"You mother******s should all be taken out back and shot in the head. I'd do it myself if given the chance," read one threatening e-mail sent to the company and obtained by ABC News.
|
Most of us here know that the outrage against the AIG employees is wrong, in that they were not the cause and most had nothing to do with the outcome. We know the Democrats and White House have been using AIG as a distraction from the Federal Reserve's "printing of Barack Bucks" and that the AIG bonuses were/are being used to take the heat-off Democrats and the White House.
With that said...

What is wrong with our populace that they can get so bloody upset about a measly $165 Million (possibly $250 Million) in bonuses; yet not get mad at Congress and the White House which just blew $1.4 TRILLION on a single bill that Congress did not even read?
Why is our populace not sending the same threatening E-Mails to the politicians that created this financial fiasco, perpetuated it, and then absconded with $1.4 TRILLION of Taxpayer money in a lame attempt to resolve it?
Further, why is our populace not demanding Congress and El Prezidente` turn over their paychecks?
Why is our populace not demanding Congress and El Prezidente` all be kicked out of office. Especially, when Congress and El Prezidente` are now calling for even more bailout funding AND the funding of very costly national projects like "Cap-and-Trade", in such dire economic times?
I can only conclude, our populace is to stoned on the "whack terbacky" that they were asking El Prezidente` to legalize.
Thoughts/Comments?

That e-mail should have been sent to every democrat in congress and barry himself.

Well ... part of the protests that happened in front of the Homes of AIG employees were sponsored by Acorn, and the SCIE union ... and the great CT AG didn't do anything to protect these citizens of his state.
Also, like I have stated before in a couple of other threads ... this whole AIG fiasco was just a cover up for 2 things ... 1. The amount of money from US Taxpayers that was funneled through AIG to foreign banks, and 2. (More Important) ... the $1 Trillion that was printed by the fed to give to the US Treasury ...
Just remember what this kind of action did to Germany during the 1920's .... hyperinflation ... and now that is what we are potentially faced with!
The AIG Bonus fiasco is just a mere drop of water in a 10,000 gallon swimming pool.
Wolf
Just my own small piece of advice ... don't pay attention to what "one hand of the media" is focusing on .... pay attention to what isn't being covered!
One more point Rumor, I understand about the $1.4 trillion that you are focused on ... but what about the almost $10 trillion in liability that our Government is now guaranteeing?

Obama the Messiah is nothing but corruption. When will his drama end? He's doing nothing good for America but killing us all.

The following was Advertisement in the Wall Street Journal
"A Public Apology and Plea to all AIG Associates" : {including bonus recipients}
Quote:
Thoughtful Americans – people of common sense and good will – know exactly what is going on today in American Politics.
Whether or not the proposed absurd, onerous tax penalties are eventually signed into law, we share the outrage you must feel for the utter hypocrisy, heavy handedness, and pure idiocy of our elected officials. There is nothing new about the concept of politicians identifying scapegoats to divert attention from their own ineptness, but they have now taken it to a preposterous level.
These polished, practiced hypocrites, aided by the media, are staging a vicious charade aimed at stirring anger amongst a naturally vindictive, vocal segment of our population – either oblivious or non-caring of the impact of this furor on you and your families.
• We have a permanently unpopular and irreparably out-of-touch Congress – both Republicans and Democrats – shamelessly pandering to an uninformed electorate – wasting taxpayer dollars treating private citizen CEOs like convicted felons – investigating everyone but themselves. It was they who passed legislation promoting sub prime mortgages and the latest ‘stimulus’ package which provided for the bonuses.
• We have a populist President – in his own words – “channeling our anger in a constructive way”. His idea of “constructive” demeans his role as the leader of all Americans – specifically: his unnecessary divisive remarks that treat all people of wealth as greedy; his broadside attacks on excessive executive compensation as if all CEOs in Corporate America are overpaid; his sweeping, counterproductive vilification of Wall Street’s “excessive greed” -- combined with his terribly misguided advice to young folks not to pursue careers there; and, his constant, classless whining about the mess he inherited and his predecessor’s mistakes. He says he is angry about all of the above, yet sees no problem in incurring the wrath of sensible Americans by running up trillion dollar deficits.
• And, no surprise, the New York and Connecticut State Attorney Generals are now piling on – issuing subpoenas.
• We are appalled that, before our very eyes, they are systematically demeaning and dismantling America’s financial services sector – a proven facilitator of wealth and job creation. This national asset, with all of its flaws, is irrefutably the very best in the world.
Elections have consequences – but caring Americans, regardless of their ideology, must not remain silent on the sidelines and allow this lunacy to continue.
• The bonuses in question were voted by Congress and signed into law by the sitting President.
• Retroactive use of the tax code to punish any private citizen is an absurd, vindictive, small minded act by political hacks!!
• The money legally belongs to the bonus recipients regardless of their role in AIG. What’s done is done – let’s all move on to address real issues: the deficit, jobs, and economic prosperity!
For the sake of your own dignity and out of respect for your Country, do not succumb to this insanity which, if allowed to prevail, will most certainly propagate the lawless power of our Federal government.
A special message to bonus recipients: If after reading this, you are still overcome with guilt – please don’t give the money back to proven, profligate spenders – donate it to a useful charitable cause.

I know this is an unpopular opinion among many that are outraged about this AIG bonus deal ... but they were paid under a "contractual obligation" ... and Congress knew that they had messed up ... like Sen. Dodd ... he should resign now along with Barney Frank!
