You have the right to say something about it.

It all comes down to feelings doesn’t it? The most important question is how you are feeling today. Are you feeling anxious over finances, are you worried you might lose your job, are you afraid to say anything about it for fear that some around you might think you are disrespecting the president? Do you worry that we have lowered our defenses to the point that we could have another attack the size of or bigger than 9/11? Do you worry that spending is completely out of control and that there are no stops in place to keep it from growing. Do you wonder if gas prices are going to spike again and cringe every time it goes up a nickel, do you feel like you should be putting money in savings just in case money gets real tight, but have no idea where you can squeeze an extra dollar to put up? In the back of your mind are you thinking you should grow your own food, raise your own animals, just in case there really is a food shortage?
Are you concerned that one day you will have to go to church in secret so as not to be arrested? Do you feel like even though you feel this way and you have been on edge for a while now, that you are over reacting and should not voice any of this for fear that the people with white coats might come? Do you get nauseous every time you watch the news and hear we have spent more money or that we have imposed new regulations on pay? Do you wonder how much longer your boss can afford to keep you in this economy? Are you tense, nervous, do you find yourself snapping at your spouse, coworkers or children? Do you catch yourself scanning your house to take stock of what you could sell if you have to, do you mentally go through the things you could do without, cable, long distance, and internet?
Have you met new people that you consider friends but are afraid to talk politics with them for fear they might not feel the same as you and discount you as a nut? Do you lay awake at night going over and over in your mind of how you will pay this bill or that one? Do you catch yourself praying that no one in your family gets sick enough to have to go to the doctor? Are you dreading just having the common flue because you know how much it will cost to doctor everyone in your house with over the counter medication? Have you suddenly started to take notice of how much you are spending on dog and cat food, bird feed and children’s snacks? Are you trying to find a way to lie and say you really don’t feel like taking a vacation this summer? Are you anxiously awaiting school to get out so you don’t have to buy lunches, buy stuff from fund raisers, school supplies and buy gas to take them back and forth to school and practice?
You are not alone; I would venture to say that just about every average American household is going through most everything I mentioned. People are hurting and people are scared, and people are afraid to say much if anything about it because it will be seen as an insult to our new president to some people and we will have to suffer through the litany of complaints about our former president as if that makes everything you are dealing with right now a non issue. No you are not alone; they may be doing and thinking the same thing you are but you see they voted for him and now must stand by him even if in their hearts they know it was a mistake. So we keep it to ourselves, never mention it unless we are sure of whom we are speaking, and all the while we are giving up the first amendment. You have a right to feel the way you do and you have the right to say something about it.
