I was brought up a Democrat, my parents were Democrats and their parents were Democrats. In 1980 I turned 18 and I voted for Jimmy Carter. I didn't know anything about politics only that I thought I was a Democrat.
It didn't take very long until I realized that I was really a conservative Republican. It was President Reagan that changed me over and by 1984 I couldn't wait to vote for him. I say he changed me over but that's not really true, I always believed that way but thought that's what a Democrat was. Boy was I ever wrong. Not only are they not like what I thought, but they are the exact opposite.
I have been really disappointed with the way our great country is going now days. I often find President Reagan's speeches and listen to them to hear his words of wisdom. It is really cool to hear him take on the same issues that we are dealing with today and to hear his common sense approach.
So when you get depressed about whats going on, go and find his speeches and I promise you it will pick you up.
