My 2 cents:
There isn’t a middle east policy! Obama called the Iraq war the “bad war” and the Afghanistan war the “good war” - this was obviously political. I am glad that we are out of Iraq - GWB captured Saddam and - because we broke it - we fixed it... If there is one good move Obama made it was to give the go-ahead for the mission to kill bin Laden – our magnificent special ops/Navy SEALS went and delivered... as far as I am concerned we have no more reason to be in Afgahnistan: Pakistan is not an ally and the Taliban has infiltrated the Karzai regime – while we are training their security forces we hope that they are actually friend not foe... You cannot change a culture and a people that are set in a ritual of tribal warfare. The arab spring has created a mess – the US (Obama admin) is not leading and has no plan. Iran is a threat – the US (Obama admin) is not leading and has no plan. The Obama admin has once again catered to NKorea – and - despite the “food-aid” agreement - NKorea is about to launch a “satellite”/missile... Russia is watching. China is watching. Europe is anxiously watching – the US (Obama admin) is not leading. Wow!
