Reagan was President from the time I was 4 until I was 12. I never had the priviledge of meeting him in person, but when I was a little girl I would write him letters and he always wrote back personally. I still have our letters. He came to my hometown during his campaign for his 2nd term. I was about 8 then. I got a close view of them later that day as they were leaving in their car (I was fortunate, and small enough, to be at the front of the crowd and close enough to see the whites of their eyes). They were smiling and waving goodbye. As long as I can remember I have loved and admired President and Mrs Reagan. I always wished he was my Grandpa! (My own Grandpa died before I was born). My heart broke when he announced his illness. It's so unfair such a great man has to suffer such a horrible disease. I am in college now and have to write a term paper on an American historical figure in the 20th century. Naturally I chose one of my favorite people, my hero, Ronald Reagan.

Thank you Barbara for sharing,
I was 19 when he became President. I was sceptical at first because of Carter's ever gloomy mirage. Before the end of his first term and all through his second term, I never failed to thank The Good Lord and Loving Father of all for being so gracious to this country by giving us Ronald Reagan as our leader and President. I am 41 years old and I still get a lump in my throat when I think of how much he believed in us and The God who created us.
Thanks,
Harrison
