A new story
Hey guys, I never met Reagan but in the circles I travel I frequently meet folks that have. I heard three really good stories today and I thought I'd leave you with one:
I work for a non-profit and I was meeting with a publisher that has been closely aligned with us for many, many years. As I was leaving his office today after a visit, I noticed a framed display on the wall containing a picture of Reagan reaching across a table and shaking a man's hand, a single $1 bill, and a typed page. I turned to the receptionist and asked what it was and she directed me to read the printed piece. Here's the story:
In 1967 Governor Reagan spoke at a meeting of our society. The publisher's father, Charles, said to Reagan that day "I'll bet you a dollar we welcome the governor to Washington some day..." Fast forward to 1982 and the same man is at a White House meeting as part of a technology group working on a policy for the administration. Charles stands up and says to Reagan, "I don't know if you remember, but 15 years ago I bet you a dollar some day you'd be President. I want my dollar!" Reagan reached into his wallet and handed the dollar now framed and hanging on the wall as the White House photographer snapped the picture also displayed there.
Pretty neat story.
