US on "High Terror Alert"

WASHINGTON — On the eve of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the federal government elevated the terrorist threat level in the U.S. to orange Tuesday, putting the country and American interests abroad at "high risk of terrorist attacks."

A senior Al Qaeda officer has provided U.S. intelligence agencies with "specific intelligence on specific attacks on U.S. interests overseas," apparently timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, Attorney General John Ashcroft said at an afternoon press briefing.

Coupled with increased "background chatter" that the agencies have been picking up in the past week, analysts told Fox News that the situation looks eerily similar to Sept. 10 of last year.

"We take every threat seriously," President Bush said. "The threats that we have heard recently remind us of the pattern of threats that we heard prior to September 11."

Ashcroft, who announced the new security level with Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge, said the information indicates that Al Qaeda cells in south Asia have been set up to carry out car-bomb attacks and other strikes against U.S. facilities, and that those cells have been gathering explosives since the beginning of the year.

He said most of the information suggests that an overseas target is likely, but officials could not rule out a terror attack within the U.S.

"At this time, we have no specific information as to where these attacks may occur," Ashcroft said, adding that "symbols of American power and authority," such as embassies, military facilities and national monuments, are possible targets....

Good Morning America.
As individuals it sometimes becomes frustrateing when we try to comprehend what we may be able to do concerning our countrys events. Our enemies are a half a world away, & some are hideing among us. We place our hopes in our leaders, & our military to protect us as best they can, but the simple God fearing folks can really not do much more than maintain their dignity, homes, & PRAY for the best.
I would just like to share that last nite at a southern Utah night club I took my old Gibson Acoustic, & dedicated a song in memmory of all the Americans that lost their lives last year.
For approximetly 300 people I Played the Jhon Lennon song:"Imagine". The responce was overwhelming. My way of doing SOMETHING.....
To share a sentament that is quite prevailent amoung my peers, I belive one of the clearest crux's of the problems we find America in today, is that the muslums want America OUT of their countrys, & their affairs. If this is the case, I would like to see THEM tossed out of MY country, NOW!
