Of course you have all heard of the new movie about Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11. Evidently it has struck quite the bit of liberal controversy because they claim it is "too soon" after the fact to be opening up those wounds again.
Balderdash. The wounds need to never heal...in the sense that it will keep us from forgetting our purpose.
After seeing the trailers, one man-on-the-street called it "offensive". Of course it's offensive...violence IS offensive, and obscene. Yet this is not gratuitous, dramatic-license violence. This is a true story, and it better than anything we see domestically shows not only the triumph of the human spirit, but the courage of a people. It is such an inspiring story that I doubt even Hollyweird could foul it up.
Yet one NYC theater (BIG surprise, there) is refusing to show the film. I now urge everyone to see it, even if it takes going across town to do so.
Never forget.

I don't know. I don't like the idea of Hollywood making money exploiting the story, especially so soon after it happened. I think it's a bit tasteless to do a film about it. A documentary maybe, but a feature film? I definitely WON'T be seeing it.

If this is by the director of Bloody Sunday, this is probably going to be great.

I bet this is the very thing to remind people of what the War on Terror is all about. I won't see it, because I'm pissed off enough about 9-11 to want to do something about it.

I will see this, the 9/11 families contributed to the film. What I find extremely funny is that the people who complained about the trailer of the movie, when it played on the UPPER WEST SIDE of Manhattan(Think ultra-rich, white, John Kerry voting, liberals), are the same people that went in droves to see F-9/11 Micheal Moore's so called DOCUMENTARY..
That they claim was the truth and MM did a great service to the country blah blah blah...
This movie needs to be seen, the video of the towers burning needs to be on TV as much as possible to wake people up to what we are fighting over there..
People like JACK MURTHA and the rest of the phonies in Congress should be forced to watch 9/11 footage every morning before they begin their day doing whatever they do in CONGRESS..

Agreed, Random. The fact that the families not only approved, but encouraged the project is enough for me, but the fact that people will see the heroism of the American spirit and perhaps get a different take on why we fight is all-important.
Like Mathgirl, I'm p.o.'ed enough to not NEED to see the film, but I will if for no other reason than to honor those people's memories, their families, and their courage.
Michael Moore's 'docurotteries' are rife with photoshop-induced false headlines and paid-off schoolchildren reading from scripts. What happened in that field in Pennsylvania was real and courageous.

Yes, but according to some of the hardcore liberal groups, we deserved 9-11 due to our oppressive policies in the Middle East. Never mind that they have been doing much of the self-oppression in recent years.
The fact that they are so skittish to release this film, is because they don't want people to realize again why we went to war. Also, I realize that a lot of the US has truly forgotten this and swept it under the rug. It's kind of like they numbed it out in a drug-haze. I think they're scared of this move and want to repress the reminder that the people that did this act were horrible, heinous, and declaring war on the Western world. I think they are so scared of that, that they are willing to repress free speech in order to win more votes in the long run.
I will see it if I have to support the film. I would rather not to, because I will get so angry that I will feel like snapping some terrorist's neck with my bare hands. I really hate being that enraged. However, I will control myself enough if this film needs support.

...haven't there already been a couple of flicks on A&E and some other places that reenacted "what happened" on this plane.
Not documentaries, either.
Is it just because it's gonna be in a theare that people get up in arms about it, or is this somehow different?

Of course I will have to withhold final opinion until after I've seen it, so as to enable me to opine whether it is true to history.
Ando, you hit the nail on the head; people do wish to repress the very idea that it is less than "Bush's fault" and there was "no danger". That's one of the big reasons I feel at this point that I must support it.

I have no desire whatsoever to see this. It's just another example of Hollywood blatantly exploiting tragedy to tug at heartstrings and make a little money. No thank you.
They sure screwed up Pearl Harbor, anyway. Maybe this one will be completely irrelevant, too.
