I can only tell you that I owned a JVC and that the cost to look at and give me an estimate was 1/5th of the value of the camera. Then, parts are not cheap, etc.
Unfortunately, video cameras have become the toasters of 2003.
If you were a bad guy you could walk into the local Wally World, buy a new identical one and then put the old one in the box and take it back. Not suggesting that, but Wally world is a big fat cat coporation you know...
BTW, Ebay shows a buy it now of $189 for a NIB A300. Then, you could probably sell you old A300 to somebody else on ebay for $75 or so. You would not believe how many people are willing to take a chance for 40 percent of new.

I'm not exactly sure but I'd bet more than about fifty dollars. But an easier solution would be to get a butter knife and just bend the pins back with lighting it up with a laser pointer...

The butter knife doesn't fit. Neither do the plyers. Trust me I tried.

This camera was really great.

There is a place I can take it to get a free estimate. I'll try and do it this weekend.

Hurm, but if it ends up costing more than 70 dollars to repair (repairs are always expensive for the most simple things), you might just as well get a new one since they have come down in price substantially...

A search on pricegrabber.com showed me the a300 at 149, but hopefully they can help you for cheap

Well this is a really great camera and I think 70 bucks is worth it to get it fixed. Thanks for all of your help everyone.
