For all you Green Bay fans...please don't take this like I'm picking on you guys and your team. I even waited an extra couple of days to let you get over the shock of losing to Arizona. I'm sure most of you guys thought the same way I did at the beginning of the season...that Arizona couldn't beat the University of Miami. Who would have thought that Green Bay would play like a division I-AA school! (okay...just kidding). I wanted to use this game as a classic example of what the NFL has become. There have always been upsets in the past, so I wasn't totally surprised. It's just that with parity and the lack of depth teams have today...we'll be getting this type of game probably every week! I'm glad I don't wager these games...because If I was a big gambler...I'd have jumped off a bridge a long time ago! The biggest difference I see with all the teams as compared to years past is the lack of depth. Every team in the league really takes a step backwards if they lose a starter...especially at the skill positions. Teams just don't have enough depth to overcome the adversity. Take Detroit...they were looking forward to an improved year but now they've lost their third defensive back for the season. Andre Goodman, Chris Cash and Chris Watson are all finished. That just killed their defense. Detroit is clearly vulnerable to the pass. The Rams without Marshall Faulk is a huge blow...I don't care how good Lamar Gordon is supposed to be...he's no Marshal Faulk. The Vikings with Gus Frerotte doesn't exactly scare anyone especially with a banged up Randy Moss. Brett Favre has struggled without his starting wideouts...however, If I was a Packer fan I'd be worried about my star QB. It seems ever since Mike Holmgren left Green Bay...Favre hasn't been as sharp or composed. His game management is beginning to revert to when he first came up and was trying to do everything...until Holmgren reined him in. He's thrown 6 picks in three games and seems to be running for his life. At this stage in his career...he should be way more decisive and not forcing throws. He may be the best QB in the league...but he's not playing like one. Anyway folks...this is what the NFL is about...and we just have to deal with it on a week by week basis. Just sit tight...and get ready for the surprises in Week 4!
