1985... Layover in Guam
I got to drive the Governor of Guam in Ron's motorcade when he had a stopover in Guam in 1985.
Ron looked really old and tired, but after such a long flight, I imagine I'd look the same.
I was standing about ten feet from when he spoke at Andersen AFB. Nice guy. Nancy was there with him and she looked bright and perky even after the long flight.
They were on their way to Japan for a conference. It was fun seeing AF1 coming in to land.
I remember, my boss, a Tech Sergeant, told me to clean out the dustbunnies out from under my desk because "President Reagan was coming!" I told my boss (not the brightest bulb in the tree) that if Ronnie wanted to inspect under my desk, I'd take the hit for the President of the United States stooping down and finding the dust bunnies. He didn't see the humor and I wound up cleaning under my desk for President Ronald Reagan.
1985... Guam... Andersen AFB... Ronald Reagan...
Where do the years go?
