The Berlin Wall is gone - Thank you !
THIS IS MY STORY
I am not an American, I am German, from former West Berlin, the divided city, once surrounded by the wall and protected by our American brothers and sisters.
I remembering living in West Berlin, as a child, I have noticed this extremely charismatic man who was the American President, Ronald Reagan. At this time, I was a child and spoke only little English, not enough to understand what he was saying in his speeches, but I knew there is something about this man which fascinated me.
Much later, by then I moved to Singapore, when President Reagan died in 2004 I saw the news, CNN and all the other channels, showing nothing else for weeks to come ; biographies, stories and things this good man has done. I started to study Ronald Reagan, I bought and read every book, autobiography, DVDs which was available in bookshops and Amzon.com. The more I learnt the more I became obsessed of this man.
Today I can proudly say that I am huge fan of him, Ronald Reagan is one of the very few people in the world who has altered the course of history forever, in a good way, without him today the world would look differently. Because of him, Berlin, my own city, today is a free city, and the wall and the communism is buried forever. In the former Soviet Union hundred thousands of slave labor from the Gulag have been freed. He fought communism from his very early age and his ultimate goal was the destruction of communist regimes of states around the world. Credit must be given to Margaret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II who were together with Reagan the freedom fighters of that time, together they were the magic axis which fought communism.
Today when watching the news of Iraq and Afghanistan I always ask myself how would have President Reagan coped with this difficult situation. The world is in desperate need of another Ronald Reagan, a strong and firm President who steps forward when others step backwards, a man with extraordinary leadership qualities.
Mr. President thank you for all, not for America only, but for the world, we will never forget what you have done for us.
Thank you and god bless you.
