Never met him, but saw him speak
I watched him campaign in 1980---I wasn't old enough to vote, but I supported him and was active in trying to get adults to vote for him. I proudly cast a ballot for him in 1984, when I was of voting age. What a tremendous President he was, and a tremendous man. Boy oh boy, how America could use him right now. He'd know what to say and he'd know what to do---he inherited a situation in 1980 that was every bit as bad as today---double digit inflation, unemployment and interest rates and a communist threat from the U.S.S.R. Ronald Reagan met every challenge head-on and he empowered Americans to solve our own problems instead of promising to solve problems for us. That's called being a leader. He was the best one in my lifetime.
