Republicans Object to Stimulus Dollars for ACORN

Republicans say voter registration and community groups like ACORN could be eligible for funding under the Democrats' economic stimulus bill.

Republican lawmakers are raising concerns that ACORN, the low-income advocacy group under investigation for voter registration fraud, could be eligible for billions in aid from the economic stimulus proposal working its way through the House.
House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement over the weekend noting that the stimulus bill wending its way through Congress provides $4.19 billion for "neighborhood stabilization activities."
He said the money was previously limited to state and local governments, but that Democrats now want part of it to be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds.
Sen. David Vitter, R-La., told FOX News Tuesday that the money could be seen as "payoff" for groups' political activities in the last election. ACORN generally supports Democratic candidates and actively backed President Obama last year.
But he said the funding is just one example of frivolous spending items in the $825 billion package.
"It's just a long list of spending items. Not a real economic stimulus job creation bill," Vitter said. "It's line after line after line of favorite liberal spending programs, and it amounts to a big government bill -- not a job creation bill."
Democratic leaders in the House have already dropped federal funding from the bill for new contraceptive services and ongoing programs to stop sexually transmitted diseases after Obama told them that it did not fit in with the job-creating objectives of the package.
Obama plans to meet with Republican leaders on Capitol Hill Tuesday to hear some their input on the package. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama is open to suggestions.
"If there are good ideas -- and I think he assumes there will be -- we will look at those ideas," he said Monday.


I'm glad someone is recognizing that this is not going to create new jobs.. The only purpose is Obama's payback for their support to his party.

Obama’s Bill Hands ACORN $5.2 Billion Bailout

A rising chorus of GOP leaders are protesting that the blockbuster Democratic stimulus package would provide up to a whopping $5.2 billion for ACORN, the left-leaning nonprofit group under federal investigation for massive voter fraud. Most of the money is secreted away under an item in the now $836 billion package titled “Neighborhood Stabilization Programs.”

Given ACORN's lobbying efforts resulted in Home Loans being given to people who did not have the resources to make their monthly loan payments, which started the economy snowballing down hill.
Why in "H" should ACORN get a dime?
Why give ACORN the money they need to lobby for even more inane lending policies?


The answer is simple, this IS a PAYOFF by Obama and Democrats to ACORN for creating a large Liberal base of "You-Owe-Me" (on the government dole) voters.

Many people have trouble picturing such an enormous amount of money. To put it into perspective, $825 billion is worth approximately $10,520 for each family in the United States, ...

Given, the bottom 50% of taxpayers pay roughly only 3.46% of all income tax revenue and there is approximately 137 million tax payers the number appears fairly accurate. Rough estimate -- 825,000 / (137 * 50%)) = $12,043.

Pelosi: Democrats Will Be Accountable for Spending

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that while critics may quibble with some elements of spending in the $819 billion economic rescue plan, Democrats were willing to act - and Republicans were not.

Willing to act only because the plan provided funding for their socialist special interests.

But she said "we are definitely stepping up to the plate to say we'll be accountable."

Can we get that written in stone?
Because as we all know talk is cheap. With Dems talk is even below Dollar Store prices...

Lawyers: ACORN Destroying American Elections

Activist group ACORN is subverting America's election system by using fraud and corruption to mislead poor, minority communities, and the media is complicit in the effort, an organization of Republican lawyers claims.
“[ACORN’s] antics include embezzlement, cover-ups, document destruction, misuse of taxpayer funds for political purposes, voter fraud, campaign finance violations, and non-profits abuse,” said Heather Heidelbaugh, a Pittsburgh attorney and vice president of the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA).

“Most of us think ACORN is all about trying to conduct massive voter register drives, but that’s just a ruse,” Heidelbaugh said as part of a panel discussion at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday. “What ACORN is trying to do is change the very core of what America is. And they’re using poor people and people of color to do it.”

The group discussed ACORN’s track record of election fraud, which is concerning considering the group is the largest grass roots organization in America with 170 affiliated organizations. Despite a series of complaints of voter registration fraud by ACORN representatives, however, the mainstream media is reluctant to report on the group’s transgressions, RNLA officials say.

Heidelbaugh, who in October of 2008 tried a preliminary case on behalf of the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee alleging voter fraud, misrepresentation, violation of the equal protection code and due process by ACORN, claims the New York Times refused to go with a story brought to the court about a woman who testified in court about Barack Obama’s link to ACORN.

On the Pennsylvania RSC alleging "violation of the equal protection code", I am wondering if it is about what I asked in another thread: ACORN might be illegal under the concept of equal rights or equal protection, in this case being equal representation?

Speculation: Once Mr. Obama's Attorney General was put in place, orders came down to bury the investigation. I have not seen anything recently. With all ACORN's election manipulations it should be an open and shut case with ACORN leaders whining from behind bars.
