The question is ... and I really hate to ask this is "What if they become violent toward those that cannot protect themselves?"
Scary!

Isn't No First?
I thought "No" had to come before the warning round fired between their feet?

Depends upon which state that you live in Rumor ... and what your rights are to protect your property!

Reanimating Obamabots to support Obama's next Porkulous budget
DNC Launches Major Campaign To Pass Budget
Quote:
|
The Democratic National Committee's 50-state canvass this weekend in support of President Obama's budget proposals marks the beginning of a months-long election-style campaign and includes several elements not previously disclosed, including automated telephone calls.
|
Great, once again with automated telephone harassment. I say we call Obama, Reid, and Pelosi at their homes - over and over again.
Quote:
|
The calls, from DNC chairman Tim Kaine, the governor of Virginia, ask recipients to call their members of Congress and press them to support Obama's health care, education and energy agenda.
|
Time to counter those calls!
Quote:
|
Obama's political team hopes to use the budget process to pass hundreds of billions of dollars worth of downpayments on his two signature domestic policy priorities.
|
" Hundreds of billions of dollars worth of downpayments (sic)"? Down payments usual are 20% of the actual cost. So were talking a Trillion or more dollars worth of spending on Mr. Obama's "two signature domestic policy priorities"!!!
Quote:
|
If President Obama doesn't get a significant placeholder for health care reform, what are the prospects that you're going to get that going forward?" The same is true, the strategist said, of Obama's energy and education reform proposals.
|
Ooh, if we don't get it now, you "owe-mes" will never get it. DNC & Obama back to their usual FUD tactics.
Quote:
DNC officials have ways to measure whether their canvassing efforts translate into telephone calls and will be using the results to see whether Obama's campaign volunteer corps can be effectively mobilized to help Obama pass legislation.
Pledge drives will be use as earned media hooks in local television markets; the DNC estimates that several hundred thousand Democrats will sign their names toward passage of the budget.
|
Where are these people getting all this money to donate to Obamacause II? Oh, stupid me. It is coming from the money they would spend on basic necessities that we Taxpayers are providing to them for free.
In short, we are funding their war against ourselves.

Dumbing down of America? I've heard this for 20 years, 20 years! That our schools are behind the rest of the world, that American kids are not as smart as other countries. They keep pushing for year-round school, longer school days and it sickens me. I don't care what the cirriculum is, the student is only going to learn what they want to learn. Maybe American students don't apply themselves to school as much as other countries, but imprisoning them is not the answer.

Actually I teach at a year-round school and it is AWESOME. Students and teachers love it....it's not what you would think. There are 3 three-week long breaks during the year (fall, Christmas, spring) and 5-6 weeks in the summer. It does WONDERS for burnout and also helps with retention by not giving them 2 1/2 months over the summer to forget everything! Looking from the inside out, I think the biggest problems with education are:
1.) Education systems being run by people who have no real experience as educators
2.) Throwing money in all the wrong places (No Child Left Behind, are you flippin' kidding me?)
3.) Tenure. Making it possible for crappy teachers to stick around indefinitely. We don't have that kind of job security where I work which in some ways is scary, but I MAKE my own security by working hard.
4.) No support from parents. Someone I spoke to the other day put it perfectly--they said one of their friends knew it was time to get out of teaching when the kids caused problems and instead of the parents coming to school asking what the kids had done, they came in with excuses and blamed the teachers/administration for being "mean" to their kids. I received a scathing call from a parent recently when a kid took something from me without asking and was reprimanded and then LIED ABOUT IT TO HIS PARENTS...somehow it was my fault. Hmmmmm.
Anyhow, that's just my two cents. A big problem is that we have an entire generation of spoiled brats being raised with an entitlement, "me-first" attitude. There are some wonderful kids out there but too many of them are lazy as all get-out.

I think you could have made that number "5.)"
I would also add "6.)" Big-Bro interfering with parenting, thus interfering with teachers and education.
Regardless, your post is a good one. It brings to light several problems with educating kids, teenagers, and even adults.

Not to mention, schools should probably spend more money on, say, MATH RESOURCES instead of developing sex ed curriculum for kindergarten children.
