...March 30, 1981.
...this is Reagan's board and no one brought it up.
Why ?
Just for the record, I remember where I was, what I was doing when I heard the terrible news that President Reagan had been shot.
What about y'all ?
Had he not survived, this country would have been sadly, very different.
I know y'all remembered; you just didn't mention it here.
Thoughts ?...

Thank you - lighnin'..!
Who could not remember or - who would be able to ever forget...
Of all of us who were there then in the midst of the cold-war and the somewhat anti-Reagan sentiment with regard to the left's hype: ...he's going to push that button... Yes: the "fair and unbiased' media was then as fair and un-biased as it is now...
I remember living in Europe then - I remember the Reforger 81 exercises and the general devided feelings there - the continued threat and the un-easiness of the recent Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968...
The news of the shooting brought back memories of November 22, 1963 - I was a little kid then and I remember people crying...
The masterful PR that was applied after the assassination attempt is to be admired: to be able to make it sound benign even though it was such a close call...
And - needless to say - one wonders what a fatal outcome would have done to the Nation and to Europe and the rest of the world?!
Thankfully - he survived!!

...I remember going into a tiny country store in Eastern Kentucky where the TV was on that afternoon.
The old man watching the coverage said "ye' cain't kill the cowboy with the white hat."
Thankfully, his prophecy was correct...

Well, I wasn't alive at the time, but I know the incident all too well. Apparently rob hinkley thought he could impress ultra-liberal actress jodie foster by killing a good president. The irony is that she later came out of the closet. Such a senseless and wasteful act, so typical of those on the left. It was apparently mirrored in Arizona by jared loughner.

I remember the news but not where I was. It's unrelated, but I think the most beautiful, impressive, perfectly done events I've ever seen on TV was the Reagan funeral, and I'll never forget the petty, resentful, hateful reaction to it by the left. I wasn't as much into politics then and I remember thinking, what's wrong with these people?
