Is This Good News Or Bad News?
Just watched the Huckabee deal on Fox News tonight. I think he is very articulate, intelligent and I really believe he is a true conservative. I know he made mistakes, just as Reagan did as Governor of California. But I think he would have wiped the floor with Obama.
My question to you great folks is now what. You know Obama has to be breathing some serious relief. I think they knew that Huckabee and Romney or Huckabee and anyone else was a done deal in 2012.
I know that there are some conservatives who did not like Huckabee but I think he is so likeable and articulate. We lost someone who would have made a great president, I think.

I think time will tell. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the primaries. At the moment, I just wish the Republican primaries were closed primaries in all of the states so the Democrats can't monkey with it like they tried to do in 2008. If we can get that done, we'll get more conservative candidates and not the RINO we got in 2008.

I think it's a good thing ... if you look into his record as a Governor .. he's actually not that conservative ... as he expanded State government while in office!
And this is not something our nation needs at this time!

...no lying Charlie Crist either.
We had decent candidates; Thompson, Huckabee, Giuliani, and Romney.
Best of all, none of these guys were from DC, and would have been better able to separate themselves from the unpopular W.
But-the GOP establishment had to have a familiar face, and they got the worst possible candidate; John McCain't. It wasn't the 'rats in '08-they had their own very contested primaries.
We did it to ourselves...

We Are Doing It To Ourselves Again
I can't believe what I heard coming out of Newt Gingrich's mouth.
What is wrong with the Republican Party. I live in Colorado and have seen my party absolutely fall of the map here.
What I would not give to have a strong leader like Reagan again. This is sick.

...as I've said before: will the mystery candidate please step forward!?
There are some really good choices out there but apparently they are not being considered and/or not making themselves available.
Take for example Bolton or West - just imagine a debate between President Obama and John Bolton or Allen West!!
Huackabee is out (bad) Trump os out (good) - that leaves Romney and Gingrich...
I'm watching this and I'm not happy - end of mini rant...
BTW: welcome to ronaldreagan.com message board, jsrg1874!!

We need a strong 'fiscal conservative' right now ... somebody with a 'proven record' ... and there is one out there ... now if someone can just persuade him to run! Gov. Mitch Daniels, Indiana.

Thanks for the welcome. I am so frustrated because of what I have seen happen here in Colorado to my party. Then I get a glitter of real hope with the 2010 landslide. Now, we are back to eating our own, as Newt did this weekend. We just don't have that overwhelming leadership of true conservative values anymore. A Reagan does not exist today. It is sad because if that is the case, we are headed toward a slippery slope of socialism in this country. We will become Western Europe UNLESS there is full blown armed revolt, which could happen.

...sorry guys, I'm not attending the GOP "Deathwatch 2011-12".
I honestly think from Romney, Pawlenty, Santorum, or Cain, we'll have a powerful candidate.
Pair them with another of the above, or a Rubio/Jindal/Bachmann, or Perry, and we'll be in fine shape.
On the other hand, I've just about had enough of the "will he or won't he" BS about Mitch Daniels.
Memo to the GOP hierarchy: I don't care whether he runs or not, and neither does anyone else...
