I was watching this on FOX news last night, it would only make sense that Al Qaida and other terrorist organizations would focus in on Iraq. Despite the success of the Iraq invasion and the fast removal of Hussein from power the Democrats have been alleging on a daily basis that removing Hussein was not necessary. The terrorists are aware of this alternate political view in America. No president in the thirty year history of Islamic extremism has been as tough on terrorism as Bush. If terrorists could sway public opinion against Bush by a successful biological or chemical attack in Iraq it could be a political albatross around Bush’s neck, an attack in the region where political opposition has been swirling against Bush could be catastrophic for him politically. Getting Bush out of power would be a huge victory for terrorists, and I would imagine they would be exploring all of Bush’s political weaknesses, such as Iraq and all the political opposition he has received from it, this would be the logical choice for terrorist resource, to help the democrat case and to weaken Bush politically, the largest victory for terrorists would be to eliminate Bush from power, they will focus on places in the world like Iraq where the president faces opposition from Democrats, France, Germany, and Russia.

I'd have to disagree with that, I think it'll have the opposite effect. The attack against the coalition provisional authority would be an attempt to derail the rebuilding of Iraq (by the Iraqi folks themselves) and a western style of government and not an attempt to sway public support for Bush. That's not going to happen, it's way to strong. An attack would only bolster that support and prove him right all along on his WMD stance. It makes more sense to me is they want to prevent Iraq from becoming a strong and powerful nation that could ultimately join forces with the US in the war against terrorism. That's just as big a threat to them as GW.

PS
If these wmd's are used in the region, I expect it'll split the arab world right down the middle ultimately giving our intelligence a shot in the arm.
