Newt Gingrich has done it occasionally, McCain does it frequently, and now this guy has gone so far as to write a book with it.

This is normally done on their part to boost their credibility and attempt to break from the 'hardliner' label.

That is my guess. Perhaps he wants the fame and popularity of being a 'moderate' like McCain has. It is sad if their values are sold this cheap however.

These are people with no spine. I liked him as a hardliner.

Breaking ranks is one thing, but those quotes above have absolutly no basis whatsoever in the real world.
