If anyone's bored, check out a debate going on at, of all places, an auto message board. I don't know how the U.N. debate started (well, okay, maybe I started it). It's funny to see some people trying to defend the U.N. (and Michael Moron). And, for any car enthusiasts, you might find the site interesting.

The U.N. comes in about halfway down page 15.

You seemed to do okay, Hemikid. You already have a reputation of "10." As far as some of the other members on that board, when anyone refers to Michael Moron as being a legitimate "source" of info, they have already lost the debate!
Another debate was going on a few weeks ago. The thread was called "German cars vs American cars."
I started posting at the top of page 5. Among others things, this "Matra" character claims that "you are less safe in a heavier car!"

Oh, I haven't even gotten started, yet. I will have much more to say about the subject later, but now I have to go pick up a car. I may even add my $.02 to the other thread, too.

Yeah, some of those posters keep insisting on the belief that American cars can't handle.
Or, I point out that a Nicky 427 Camaro (11-second 1/4 miles) or a '68 Hemi-Dart/Barracuda (mid-10-second 1/4 miles) could blow away any Ferrari or any other European car into the weeds in a drag race, all they can say is, "But what about the corners?" Lol. When they finally catch up, I would be glad to talk about corners.

Well, it seems like alot of Europeans refuse to acknowledge drag racing as a sport. Probably because we thought of it first. I will say this however. Handling has come a long ways in the last 35 years, but if you look at it in context, we do alright in the handling department. The Dodge and Plymouth B-bodies from 68-70, and the 70-74 E-bodies, were generally considered the best handling American cars built when they were new. And I would be willing to put any Road Runner or 'Cuda up against any Ferrari or Porsche of the same vintage on any European road course. Those guys might be surprised at what an old Mopar is capable of.

Speed and handling aside, I defy any European racer with any european car to last 300 laps at Talladaga with the big boys.

Oh, yeah. Put me on a super speedway in a '69 Hemi Daytona (first NASCAR Grand National legal stocker to break 200 M.P.H. on a super speedway) with decent tires, and I'll take on any Ferrari or Porsche, old, new, or in between.
