I like NASCAR & IRL,both are very different and require different skills.

You trade paint in the IRL and you die, open wheels is more dangerous and they go faster on the same tracks as NASCAR and with less protection, ever seen an INDY car up close?
Those guys are out of there minds, you are basically strapped into a rocket with barely enough room for you to fit in and there isint a windshield either.

NASCAR is great too they are very skilled and I like to watch paint being traded every now & again..

I have to say I'm not a big NASCAR or IRL fan. I just don't enjoy watching it. I was born in a drag racing family, I grew up a drag racer, and that's what I enjoy the most. But, you're right, both forms take tremendous skill. Some people get nervous passing another car at 65 m.p.h. on the highway. Imagine what it's like going into a high-bank turn at 190 m.p.h., with a car on each side 1 inch off your door handles, and one in front 2 inches off your bumper. Now that takes nerves.

The Dodge and Plymouth B-bodies from 68-70, and the 70-74 E-bodies, were generally considered the best handling American cars built when they were new. And I would be willing to put any Road Runner or 'Cuda up against any Ferrari or Porsche of the same vintage on any European road course. Those guys might be surprised at what an old Mopar is capable of.
Yeah, they handle better than the Euro-sports car fans will admit. Even my Cadillacs ('70 Sedan de Ville, '71 Fleetwood, '76 Limo) can go around corners with a 35-mph posted speed limit at 50 mph. And something like a '57 Chrysler 300-C could outhandle any '50s or '60s Euro sedan, stay right with "sports" cars except on an extremely hairpin turn.

At a weekly car show I go to (Friday nights), there is a '72 Plymouth Duster there with a built (420 horsepower, 450 lbs/ft torque) 340 V-8. On a window is a sticker which says, "My lug nuts require more torque than your Honda makes."

Could it be that many "sports car" fans now realize that the "poorly-built" '60s and early '70s U.S. muscle cars are selling, in some cases, for more than Ferraris and Porsches? No, it couldn't be that!

Yes, but that is with thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of modifications. I prefer to watch stock or mildly-modified U.S. musclecars racing (especially drag racing).

[/QB]</font>
I like Drag racing a lot,did a little of it when I was younger,I had a 69 SS/RS Camero show car with 350cu with 12.5 trw pistons,a cam with 5.10 lift and 312 duration,12 bolt posi rearend, turbo 350 transmission, hooker headers,a holly carb..it was fun,I did some racing with it but didint thrash on it too hard as it was show quality and I won several trophys at car shows with it.
I never hauled it though,I drove it to the shows..That was the car I had when I was 19..
