I'd hate to be put in the awkward position of defending Michael Moore, but I believe there is a reason for what he did. The movies has been marketed as Farenheit 9/11: The Temperature at Which Freedom Burns. I believe that the American flag represents our freedom and liberty, which Moore contends Bush is destroying (burning).
