OK, serious topid here. I have told ALL employers from 1993 on that I will leave work within 2 hours of hearing of THE President's death. I never got to vote for the greatest American Hero of our time. However, I can still honor him at some point.
I have read of the stories of people going to JFK's funeral from 1500 miles away. I will beat that. I will come from Oklahoma with 2 hours notice. I WILL be threre to pay my respects to the man.
Seriously, what will they do? What is the protocall? I watched as Nixon was driven in upstate NY. I will be there when they lay him in state.
(I am not trying to be morbid, just asking a serious question. What will be the procedure. Nixon only lay in state for 24 hours or so. Can they do the same thing to the "Man"?

Both Ronald and Nancy have their final resting places already set up on the Northwest corner of the Reagan Foundation in Simi Valley. They overlook the vast expanse of California and on really clear days you can see the ocean off in the distance. The nearby hillsides and mountains give the impression that you are truly looking down from the heavens.
As for proper protocol, I am sure when the day comes there will be a one day public viewing in the rotunda of the Capital Building for those wishing to pay their respects. After that, he will then be moved to Simi Valley.

A Reagan Flyover
I believe that when the time comes that President Reagan is laid to rest, there should be a flyover like this nation has never seen before. This flyover should consist of every type of jet that our great President introduced into our airforce. This flyover would make the hearts of every American heart pound while also clearly stating, we can only have peace through strengh.

OK, it is I, the original poster. (Unregistered then, legal and loving it now.)
But, my question is really still there. I really wonder if the Reagan family knows the outpouring that will occur when he finally shuffles off this mortal coil? I am quite sincere when I say that I will leave Oklahoma in two hours flat the minute I get the word of his passing.
(I home schooled my kids for the past 8 years but due to a premature baby we had to send em to public school this year. I CANNOT wait to go and pull my 8th grade daughter from her Hillary luvin advanced placement history teacher and tell her where we will be for the next few days. (That is, if it should happen this year)
But I digress....I am NOT trying to be morbid here. I really want to know the protocol. I would assume 24 hours just to get the President from California to DC? Then, lie in state 36 or so hours after death? Do you think I have that long to get there? JFK and LBJ are the only true examples to look at in the past 40 years as Nixon did not accept the honor of lying in state.
