Twenty two years ago I wrote to President Reagan. He was the first president I had ever voted for and I was so very proud of him.
I didn't expect anything in return and certainly never looked for a reply. I was shocked when a letter from The White House came, addressed to me.
It read: "I wish there were words to convey adequately how much it means to me to hear from people like you - - especially during these challenging days. Your warm message of encouragement has filled me with renewed resolve to work and fight for the goals we share. Please accept my heartfelt appreciation. God bless you. Sincerely, Ronald Reagan"
To this day it still hangs on my office wall.

Welcome to the Forum!

RR was one in a million. I saw him speak several times and he was the real deal. Time will prove how great he was. Some other presidents that were revered for so long have begun to lose luster: FDR, JFK and WJC. Maybe it is in the monogram - presidents with 3 letters are not great but AL, TR, GW, and RR are beyond reproach. But seriously, President Reagan's greatness has not fully been realized.

Brooklyn! As it is, since I've never talked to you before but still, I am surprised that you have a post up here since you disappeared.

I. too, received a wrie-back from RR, as well as Bush 1 and even, as a child, (!) LBJ...though of course he didn't actually take the time to do it himself as the others did. There again, is the difference in Libs/Conservatives.

River!! I am glad to be back...nice of you to remember me

Things have been kind of hectic in my life as I have become a full time caregiver to my Mom (I lost my Dad last year) while she recovers from her fractured foot....she is coming along though and will be able to put weight on that foot sometime in early July. I have more time now to go online....I have missed being in this group........I do collect Reagan stuff especially Nancy Davis Reagan stuff from her days as an actress.......I just can't believe the things I have found on Ebay!!!!! Many of the rare movies she made that I have been looking for too!!!.
